For those of you who have been following my frankenbird project, I got the nice engine out of my 98 Firebird and the crappy engine out of my 97 Firebird. Now I am going to clean up the 97's engine bay and paint it black. How do you guys think I should go about painting this (if I do at all)? Right now I have a few cans of engine degreaser, a wire brush & sandpaper, and 8 cans of black rustoleum engine enamel.
Hopefully I'll have this car running by the end of this weekend.
94 Camaro convertible -- mostly stock 97 Firebird -- Project Car - kyb agx shocks, eibach springs, 3.42 torsen diff, aluminum driveshaft, slp cai, pacesetter headers, magnaflow cat-back. hptuners. not done yet. 98 Firebird -- Parts Car
take some pics please, I need to do this to my engine bay, I'm going to paint it black, its sooo dirty in it right now.
I know I didnt help you lol, but I got this really good degreaser in a purple spray bottle( forgot what its called atm) but it literally removes grease and grime on contact.
So far I've just been using that with a rag to somewhat clean it up.
I'll try to get you the name later, you prob have it already lol
If the car is its original color, I would not paint the engine bay black. Black engine bays show dirt really well, and don't do anything to enhance the appearance of the motor when the hood is opened. The looks better when the engine bay matches the body color.
sounds fishy, they dont even tape anything off when they paint, i dont see how that could happen
it must be some sort of special edition, or the car was repainted
the cars are painted before the engine is installed from the factory, and usually done by robots.. i find it a bit hard to believe the robot decided that his engine bay should be black
