Re: whining noise
if it goes away ~15minutes after start up...AIR system. If it gets louder when you push on the accelerator...alternator whine. If it's coming from the rear end of the car when driving...it could be your 10 bolt taking a crap on you.

Re: whining noise
my car has a whining noise also, i seem to hear it when i am engine braking in 1st or 2nd gear the most.
it has done it since the day i bought it (50,000 miles ago) and im not really worried about it because i have heard a lot of 3.8's that make the same noise

Re: whining noise
you have an AC? sometimes it's the bearing in the AC pulley. When in doubt, use a stethoscope or a large screw driver to you ear when the engine is running and put it on each individual part of the engine VERY CAREFULLY!!!! to find out where the sound is coming fromLast edited by tcrenegade50; 11-20-2009, 03:56 PM.
