x2....mine was making a weird noise I couldn't pin down. It had a Gatorback belt on it that was on it when I bought it, and it looked fine, no cracks, but it seems to have a lot of play in. Swapped it out with a cheapie from Autozone and the car quieted down.
My car was whining like a little *****, I took off my belt cleaned it with fantastic and hot water. Dried it off, took brake cleaner to the pullies and the squeak is gone.
I'll try cleaning the belt but it has been doing it ever since I have had this engine (I bought it used), so it was doing it with a new belt. I also changed the the belt tensioner and nothing changed.
I changed the power steering pump last night, but I have not tried starting it yet. I should be able to work on it more tonight, I'll post back.
I had put in 3.73 gears on my V6 camaro about 2 years ago. I had vehicle parked in garge for a year and now I am driving it. Started to hear whining noise from rear. I took it to shop and they advised rear end problem. Rear end oil was dark with metal shavings.
Tech advised barings or rears bad.
