I'm tring to figure out if my fuel pump is going bad... hoping yall can help.
For the most part, the fuel pump makes the normal buzzing sound when you turn the car to "on," but from time to time over the past 2 or so months the fuel pump has made more of a groan/grunt sound for the 2 second period when you initially turn the car to on but don't start it up. It tends to happen after the car sits overnight or for at least a few hours, and my car is also taking some extra time to start up (another thing that isn't a problem every time, but does happen often)... as in the engine turns for a few seconds before it'll actually start up as compared to the immediate (basically) ignition that happened before this all happened. I also had the fuel filter replaced and had a place run the injector cleaner through the vaccuum hose as well as putting the injector cleaner in the tank, and I'm still having the problem. Is the fuel pump going bad? If so, how much longer should it last before it goes out totally?
I should also mention that the car is at 88,000 miles and had its engine replaced at 72,000... this problem has been occurring basically ever since the new engine was put in.
Thanks for any help yall can give me!
