• Heater Hose

I'm SO mad right now. I was racing this guy when all of a sudden I start to smell anti freeze, so I get it home, only like a couple of blocks... look under the hood and find that one of my heater hoses broke off right where it connects w/ the metal hose. So I go to Autozone and they don't carry anything like it, so I call the Dealership and I have to pay $150 for the D*** hose assembly (both heater hoses and all that jazz). I really feel like ripping out that 3.8 and putting in a carburated 350. Haha Sorry... just needed to vent to some people that knew what I was talking about ;)

Sorry to hear that...what part of Orlando are you living in? Those new apartments downtown near church street? Haven't been down too many brick roads in Orlando.

I actually live in Casselberry, but I was in old Winter Park by Park Ave and such. Tons of brick roads around there, and they are nasty. The tailpipe was already loose, b/c who ever had the car before me didn't put it on right (they didn't have a hanger on that one side) and I didn't find that out till later :( So... I'm not having a good night ;)

DONT DO IT!

Same thing happened to me. Under full accel one day, the plastic piece where the heater hose connects to the metal blew apart.

Heres my fix:

Take the heater hose into autozone.
Find a radiator hose that the heater hose fits snugly inside.
Take some hose clamps, the metal kind that you screw tite, and connect the broken pieces together, being sure everything is snug.

Bingo, fixed for about $7

Lemme know if you want pics, i did this to mine, i can run out and take a pic of what i did.

Man, that would have been nice to know before I tore up the rest of the hose trying to get the damn thing off. Now I feel pretty dumb  I guess just add it to the list of things gone bad today ;) But thanks man, that's some good info for the future.

The heater hose has two metal crimp attachments that attach the rubber parts of the hose to this plastic intermetiate piece thats like 2" long (if i remember correctly)

Yup that's exactly what broke... and Grayman, it's $150 for both hoses... you can't buy just one... it comes as an assembly for god knows what reason... I'm not happy about his, I wish I knew about Ian's fix before I cut the old one off (the damn thing wouldn't come off). OH well... live and learn my friends.

Here's alil warning about those heater hoses... Have fun getting the bracket off. It took me about an hour and a half to get the screw holding the whole assembly in place. NO fun, but on a better note I fixed it and now all I have to worry about is a P1441 code... Good times

my heater hoses were only like 90 for the whole asembly from the dealership. But then again I have the 3.4 and I don't kow how different the 3.4 and 3.4 heater hoses are.
