• Autometer A/F Gauge

I'm trying to install the Autometer A/F Gauge but I didnt get any manual or anything with it so I dont know where to tap the wire in. Red wire is the power and black is ground right? Can I just tap that into any 12v power source? Would I need a fuse for it? And the purple goes to the O2 sensor on PCM right? What color wire is that on 97? Thanks!

I don't know about the purple wire. According to the Haynes manual, the purple wire is the post-cat o2 sensor. I thought you want to take the reading off the pre-cat sensor which is the blue wire. I tapped into the blue wire(pre-cat), but I'm not 100% sure it is the right wire though because it never goes rich, even at WOT, it stays at 2 bars stoich. The way I understood it, the cat makes it read lower, due to the emissions stuff. I would be interested to know if I tapped the right wire.

I installed one on mine. It's the purple wire coming off the connector on the 02 sensor. The purple wire is the signal wire, which you need. I have a 99 camaro and I'm pretty sure it's the same thing.

The purple wire IS an O2 signal wire. But it is for the sensor after the cat.

I spliced into the purple wire on the 02 sensor right past the manifold flange before the cat, and what was the purple wire for the signal.

So your saying you tapped the wire at the actual sensor before the cat and it was purple? Could someone else shed some light on this, is the Haynes manual wrong?

I have 99 camaro and the wire I needed to splice into was the signal wire which was the purple wire. I used the Haynes Manual also. If it's the wrong wire, the gauge is working and is reading so. You must have spliced into the wrong wire becuase yours never goes rich which it's supposed to do at WOT. You said yourself that your not 100% sure it's the right wire. oh well
