Today as I was getting out of my car, the damn key would not come out! I really never start the car from the inside and today was no different, but when I went to take the key from the ignition it wouldn't. I had to literally pry the ignition back to get the key out. When I put it back in again, the same thing happened, what could cause this???? Anyone had this happen before? I thought at first the car was not in gear (P) all the way, but that was not the case. how expensive and difficult is that part to fix/replace?
Thanks guys

It has to do with the car not thinking you are in park. I saw an article somewhere that you have to adjust something under the shifter plate. They said that this happens to a lot of A4's.

my car was SUPPOSEDLY in park, I mean the little "P" was highlighted.....so I figured wtf. ANYWAYS i had to turn the car back on, and chill for a few minutes, then it "clicked" into park and they key came out easily.
Same thing happened in my 1989 Olds with an automatic, so we've had this problem for quite some time. In the two years I had that car, it only happened twice. Just try it again and make sure your shift is solid I guess. No big deal.
