  • How hot does an engine get?

    for a speech im doing i just need to know how hot an engine gets at idle, while driving, and inside the cylinder. thanks

    Kind of an interesting ? I believe a stock thermostat on our cars opens at 185* F as indicated by the water temp sensor. If you idle long enough the low fans kick on around 225* F if you have not tuned it otherwise. And the temp in a cylinder on the piston crown under normal conditions according to wikipedia is around 570*F.
