  • Universal FPR

So after doing some more research I'm leaning towards my problem being a fpr. I don't mind changing it out but I'd like to get something better than stock, any excuse for aftermarket and I'll take it. So is Anyone running a universal fpr? If so pros and cons, suggestions, brands, places to buy? If someone has one and has a pic handy I'd like to see your install, how it looks vs stock.
I was also considering an adjustable however I'm not planning on doing any forced induction at any point so would that just be overkill? Any advantages?
Fuel is one area that I've not spent to much time learning so I need some input on this one.

Stock ones should last along time and are good and unless your going to mod it in the future it would be a waste. but Viper did a write up on installing a adj. fuel pressure regulator, let me see if I can find it. Here you go , MSD also makes one too: From another member:

i use the summit one.... it was $65 buck and take about 5-10 minutes to install

you just cut the stock fuel return line and put it in there then run the line from the stock FPR to it (or any other line)

it is adjustable and adds one PSI fuel for every PSI of boost

the stock one stays in there you just unplug the vac line off it..... i have seen no i'll affect from doing this and sho down has done it as well

Thanks, That's pretty interesting, I might consider that. I found a thread that thor had started a while ago asking how to replace the stock fpr and it seems like a real pia. If I had to do all that then I'm gonna replace the o rings and clean the hell out of everything too.

I'm running out of things that could be wrong. I just replaced the 3 coils plugs and wires, before it got this bad, the fuel pump was replaced about 3 months ago and the cat was replaced a little over a year ago. The EGR I know is bad and I'm getting some block off plates for that.

I'm on the fpr now because of the mid range cruising it bucks and stutters and then low speed taking off it bogs down and feels like it wants to die.

Wow I just checked the paperwork and the bastards never changed the fuel filter when replacing the pump and I can't find any record of it being done for, well quite a long time. I think I'll start with that then work my way away from regular maintenance to more expensive detailed repairs. Thanks for the info though I may still need it yet.

Check your fuel injectors also , I had a bad one that didn't throw a injector code it would throw a PO300, someimes and I would idle at the bank drive through then leave and stop to get out and it would die on me throwing no codes. Year later after replacing evrything almost it was a bad injector, ohm tested fine but was either clogged beyond help since I must of ran 30 bottles of injector cleaner through the car in that year.LOL Good luck
