Low Oil and such

Recantly my car has been showing low oil in the dash when I start my car. I checked the dipstick and it was dangerously low. I added 1 qt and checked the stick again and it said I was over. I've monitored my car and have no signs of oil consumption or oil leaks. It's a very clean car. I can usually get the light to go away if I turn the car off and start it again immeadiately after. After the 2nd restart the light will not come on. Any Ideas or things to check would be great.

My car is a 2002 3.8L Camaro. The best gas milage I've seen is on the highway and it was 19 m.p.g. My average speed is 80mph at 2400rpm.

Try just putting a new low oil switch in it, they are pretty cheap from the dealer. Or if you want to be cheap take it out and clean it in some solvent, maybe it just has some dirt around it. Also if you car is only gettign 19mpg on the high way something is wrong, mine gets 26 with an auto, i used to get 27 before i changed some stuff.

Im going to change the low oil sensor tomorrow.
My car is a M5 and Im mostly stock. Exhaust is the only thing I have. I think I'm going to run a higher tire pressure and see how much more I can get. Thanks for the advice. I dream of getting 26mpg.. hell I'd cry if that happened.

low oil sensor is in oil pan if your showing low oil pressure you need switch in oil filter adater.
