Has anyone used the 'cable' type snow traction devices on their Fbody? The owners manual says not to use chains. not enough clearance. I don't plan on using 'chain' chains...but rather the low profile cable chains. I looked it up and most cable chains have an "S" clearance rating. (not the same as speed rating on tire...this regards minimum clearance to obstruction in wheel well.) The 'S' clearance minimum is 1.46 inches. I have stock 235/55r16's and I measured min. of 2 inch clearance all around wheel well.
(I know how to put onchains, etc, ...tighten...drive 100 yds..re tighten..etc.)
I have never had a car with this little clearance though. In the past my cable chains could have been flexing...stretching...don't know. Never had any come off.
These would only be on if I am stuck at work when it snows. 15 mile drive home max 35 mph. Then rig up the truck into snow beast mode until roads clear.
Just curious... Any feedback regarding cable chains on the fat tire f-body appreciated.
