  • Horn help ( Pics )

Recently my horn stopped working when I had a guy put an ignition lock cylinder in my car. So I took off the horn and looked to see what was up, there seem to be these two clear brackets on either side of the horn with a positive and negative.

The clear bracket on the left had a loose posi I guess he broke off both of the brackets when he changed it. I noticed when I took the other bracket off a small spring fell out.

Needless to say the other side didn't have one so im assuming that he dropped the other one when he changed the cylinder and broke the two brackets off. Okay here is the issue and my questions.... When I get ready to hook the wires back up what can I use to make the posi wires stay since the holdings for them that were inside the brackets broke off.

2 Do the springs have to be there for the posi connections to work and if one side doesn't have the spring would that make the whole horn not work? If so where can I find the springs to buy because as you can see its kinda small.

the springs are there so the horn button pops back up and quits making a contact so the horn stops.

if the red wire is missing from one side the horn will not work, since it is one circuit IIRC.

to take the horn assembly off, all you need to do is push in the piece that goes into the center of the steering wheel and twist it, and everything comes out. You may be able to re-wire everything since it is a very simple circuit.

Okay on the final pic at the bottom what does that metal piece on the posi have to connect with inside of the plastic bracket to make the horn operate

it clamps on with a little connector, the connector is holding on to that broken plastic piece at the end of the wire.

you could take that horn button apart and solder the wire to the little plate at the bottom
