  • Melling oil pump

    anybody ever isntalled one i got one with ym new short block and the machien shop guy didt really give me any instruction and ive taken the cap off that holds the spring ain and put the new one in but whata bout the gear in there is there any special way to put it in thanks

          It goes in the timing cover. The crankshaft slides right through it. once the timing cover is off, it takes a T-30 torx to remove all 5 oil pump cover bolts. pull out the old gear assembly and put the new one in just like the old one was. Be sure to pack it with moly grease or something so it doesn't fry itself when you start the engine.

          Bethann is right, try out that period key on the lower right side of the keyboard. Your knowledge of advanced mechanical concepts leads me to believe that you are way beyond the first grade, hence you should know better. ;)

            If you don't have a Hayes or Chilton's manual for the car, it may come in handy. This will describe the oil pump removal/installation.

              What part number did you use for the oil pump? I didn't know melling made an oil pump for our cars!
