  • Fuel Pump Replacement Questions

Hey gang. So I no longer know how much fuel I have (shows full all the time) and the pump seems to whine more than usual. I want to swap in a walbro 255. I'm going to go with the trap door method. I found some good pix of the setup, but I still have questions.

This is for my 99 camaro 3.8

    1. Does the bucket have to be modified for the walbro to work right?

    2. Which pump should I buy? I found this walbro here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GENUI...Q5fAccessories

    This knockoff pump here:

And I know some of the camaro sites sell pumps. What is the best pump to get? What about racetronix?

    Re: Fuel Pump Replacement Questions

The bucket would have to be modified. I ran mine for about 700 miles without the bucket and had no problems. Install is really easy. Actually my pump is in the for sale threads at the moment :o Just draw out the lines you want to cut and do so carefully :)

I'd go with the Racetronix stuff as it goes in just about as a bolt in. There's no modifying the bucket. Racetronix makes a V6-specific pump assembly.

We used Racetronix in the TH RS project car. Take a look at: http://www.camarohomepage.com/project/part4.htm
...about half way down the page.

I decided to go with a walbro 255, seemed the best price with free shipping. I'm going to be carving up my car some time this week to do the install :).
