Ok if the AC stops blowing every time you accelerate what does it mean?

    Re: ac

when you say stops blowing do you mean that it stops blowing out of the vent or gets hotter? i have the same problem, it stops blowing out of the vent and goes to the floor. if this sounds like your problem then it could be something to do with your vacume canister or the line coming from it. they can dry and fall apart over time. if you look at the ac box on the passenger side the line runs out of it and over the fender then goes under near the front. the canister is under the car. on the passenger side.

      Re: ac

its because the ac compressor shuts off when the throttle reaches a certain percentage, so you dont damage it.

cam98aro is right, the compressor on the camaro is turned off (the clutch turns off) when you accelerate rapidly (high rpm).

          Re: ac

The compressor should turn off when the accellerator is matted, but the air should continue to blow. When you say the "AC stops blowing" do you mean that the air flowing out of the vents becomes warm or that the air ceases to flow from the vents?

It stops blowing through the vents and on to the floor.

that my friend would be a vacuum leak.

check the port on the back of the intake manifold to see if it is dry rotted

its in the corner right near the pcm, you will find a vacuum line leading from i think the map sensor to the line.

Yes, the plastic check valve in the vacuum line has gone bad.

Did you check your freon recently? Honestly though - not enough freon can cause your AC to not cool properly. Wouldn't a vacume leak just make it stop cooling? He's sayin it sounds like it still works.

What he's describing seems normal. My AC (when I had the compressor) always kicked off on the camaro and started blowing at my feet when I mashed the gas.

Also it's true that not enough refrigerant can cause the AC to cycle due to the low pressure switch being tripped after it runs for a bit. But it sounds like his issue is normal.

his problem is that when he goes WOT, his air blows at his feet. that is something to do with the vacuum.

i know when you give a car a lot of throttle the vacuum will drop, this drop would cause the vents to go to their normal position which is down at the floor. the reason why it doesnt is there is a vacuum canister to hold some vacuum (which is why the vents will still work when the car is off)

if there is a vacuum leak somewhere this vacuum will bleed off rather quickly and the air will come out of the vents.

im not sure if this is normal or not, last time i gave my car 100% throttle was probably 3 years ago, and im not about to go and blow my engine trying to test this theory
