          3.4 and 3.8 should work

cheapest spark plugs i've seen are AC Delco @ autozone.
coils, spark plugs, wires, o2's all cause cause back fire and a rough idle

so nothing smog would do this?

            things to buy:
            alt,wires,plugs,and check coils.

how many o2 sensors and how do you check them, or do you just shell out $$ and see if they fix the problem?

thanks guys. you ever wonder how many problems our cars have with the ignition, just a thought.

2 o2's on the 3.4 one on each manifold

use a ohmeter or what i did the 2nd time was unplug each sensor at a time to my suprise i had bought both new only to find out i had a faulty o2 don't know if you want to do this thought may get a good burning if you're not careful

btw it helps to buy a chilton's or haynes manual

as a matter of fact i think i have a chiltons manual somewhere at home. if i unplug the o2s would it go into some sort of limp mode or should i just test them and see whats up.

i know i will need new wires so im not wasting money buying those, the guy said that just recently he put new plugs in...should i redo the plugs anyway? and i will get an alt that is good from the junkyard.

i did a search and some guy said that his manifold bolts came loose causing a problem, i will check those too, you dont think there are any pre intake sensors to check do you??

oh and do you think there could be something internally wrong that is causing this?. the guy said it suddenly happened, but i dont know if I could trust him. i knew the car was worth it is why we bought it, now we just need to fix or replace the engine and my friend will have an awesome car for under $2000....hopefully under anyways.

How does the oil pressure look? I remember the first time mine seized, it ran EXACTLY like you are describing, but the oil pressure needle was almost at 0.

its around 30 or 40. the low oil light is coming on, but the dipstick shows plenty of oil.

what would cause it to seize, no oil or just a bad oil pump?

just found out from my friend that the guy said this problem happend halfways during a trip. i think the guy is lying, because the SES light wasnt on when we got there. so i think the guy just screwed up when he "maintained" the car

                          i could be wrong

Could be bad oil pump, spun bearing, restricted oil pickup tube, etc. Start the car and see what the oil pressure reading is and you will know if that is causing your problem.

it did have oil pressure, but i dont remember what it was

would low oil pressure cause it to not go above 3200rpms. does good compression mean that the valves are still in working order
