  • Headliner!!!

Ok so i got it off and glued it back. The good news is that it sticks, the bad news is that the glue leaked through so it white spots everywhere and i haev alot of wrinkles.I would have got someone to do it but it was $100 and i couldnt pay it. So i just want to take it down and just have metal up there for right now. I am pretty sure the light at the top will go right back in but i am concerned about the seatbelts in the back. Thye run up through the roof and the headliner so i could alwayscut the headliner but they have a little plastic thing around them at the roof. Any help about the seatbelts and other things would be great. Thanks.

I just did the headliner on my boyfriend's jeep. You can buy headliner material at auto upholstery shops and some fabric stores. Then use some 3M spray adhesive from a hardware store and follow can directions. Works great. Fast, easy. No leaking or spots. The headliner material was only $35, and I'm sure you'd need less than half the amount the Wagoneer needed. Sorry I'm not sure about your seatbelts though.

      It is easy.

      1. Take off the A-pillar trim, B-pillar trim, sunvisors, and dome light.
      2. There are trim peices where the seatbelts go into the headliner. They just pop off when you pull down.
      3. Once those are off, you should see a little slit in the side of the headliner where the seatbelt can slide through.
      4. With the seatbelts slid to the outside, pop the headliner board down and slide out the rear hatch.

      5. Now for the tricky part. Take off the fabric and sand down the excess foam left behind. Don't try to scrap it off or pull it off cuz it can mess the head liner up easy (I did that to mine :( ). Try to leave the hard shell the old glue makes.

At this point I would lay out the fabric and get a feel for how it is going to go on the board and work out how the fabric will go in the indetations on the sides of the t-top bar.

      6. Get some good glue, 3M or something pretty strong because there will be some tension in the fabric. Spray the glue on both the board and the headliner and let it tack up.
      7. I would start with the rear side of the board and work slowly towards the front. Spread the fabric from the center out left and right that way it doesn't get wrinkled.
      8. The hardest part is getting the fabric to fit down in the head-wells. Just take it slow.
      9. Once all the fabric is spread on the board. Trim it up leaving a couple inches overhang to rap around the edge.
      10. After rapping the fabric around the edges, open your holes for sunvisers, seatbelts, and domelight.

Then just put it back in reverse of how you took it back out.

      Hope this helps
