  • Lower manifold gasket on the GTP block

Im currently putting together a GTP shortblock and I see on the block there are 2 holes on each side of the front and back of the block where the lower manifold sits and the rubber peices from the gasket set go there and they wont fit becuase of those 2 holes.....what manifold gasket set works with these holes? They fit perfect on my L36 block but not on this one......seems even the 97 GTP shortblock had no holes so maybe its a 99+ block? Thanks

i think i know what you're talking about... i know the 2000 blocks have a lot of differences in terms of mounting brackets, etc. can you maybe dremel the holes in there so your gasket set will fit?

you might be on to something with the 99+ block. are you building this shortblock for your car or for a FWD application?

so... they are just below the mating surface i'm guessing. what would you say their diameter is? are they perhaps just cleats for the gasket?

but if they werent there the gasket slips right over the edge of the block and sits perfect...with those in the way it doesnt seal real good and would leak like a whore....im wondering if theres a special piece that works for this block.
