I just bought a wrecked in the back Z with 70k on it and auto trans. I'm using it for a donor for my car. Before the engine goes in, what all needs/should be done to it. Gaskets changed and so on? What mods can I do before it's put in? I'm looking at getting headers + y pipe to go with my borla, can that go on before to make it easier? I want this motor to be like a brand new motor or even better before it goes in my car.

I'd probably do the gaskets, just for piece of mind. Headers would be good to do, also any kind of internal work you want to do (heads and cam, etc). Also it's the best time to do a k-member/a-arms if you so wish to go that route.

Like he said. I just did the same thing as you, but I rebuilding the 95 I got. Not to be a scavenger or anything ;) but where was it wrecked(front, back, side)I need a header panel, I'm in need of the whole header panel, including headlights and levels. I got all the parts for mine including a header panel, but it would be much simpler to get a used oem one.
