  • Few questions about putting a new dash and airbags in.

Hi, My airbags were blown which cracked the dash and so on. I got a whole new dash pad and airbags but have a few questions. I took the old dash pad out which was a pita, put the new airbags in but ran into a few problems. The passenger side airbag bolted up fine however the plug thing on the yellow wire is different then the one that was in there and wont plug into the other plug adapter thing for the yellow wire. Hope you know what I mean. Is it ok to just cut the adapter/plug off the old airbag, and just switch the plug to the new airbag so it'll snap into the plug? My car is a 97 and I know that this dash and bags came from a 97+. Also, it came with an airbag modular. Now is my old one bad now that the airbags depoyed, because I couldn't even find my old one to even replace it with the new one. Where is it located? Please tell me it's somewhere simple to get to because I already have the dash in place bolted up. And last, after I finish this, will the airbags work again if ever needed? Like are the sensors ok being they weren't replaced? Hope you can help.

Ok you can cut the plug for the air bags no problem just make sure you do a good job splicing it. The airbag module is under you console take the top off and you will see it. I don't know about your sensors depends what set it off in the first place. Hope this helps.

Great, thanks blue flame. I was thinking it was under the console, but didn't want to start tearing things apart if I didn't have to. OH, and the reason they were deployed is becuse I bought the car with light front end damage that set them off. It's a 97 rs convertible. Thanks again.
