  • replacing metal fuel lines

On the new camaro I just bought (also a 1996) the fuel lines are rusted out and leaking. So I need to replace the hard line...how difficult is this? it looks pretty accessible? how do the metal lines disconnect? what kind of line do I need to buy? and do I need to flare the ends like I need to do for brake lines?

also, can anyone identify something for me in these two pictures.

    1) what is this white hanging plug thing?

    2) in the second picture, on the first line (one on the bottom), is there anything that is supposed to be clamping that sleeve to the plastic and metal lines? because if I pull on it, the plastic line slides out extremely easily?

bump, are these prebent lines I need to buy? or do I need to bend them? is there a flare I need to put on the end?

      Re: replacing metal fuel lines

I don't know what the pressures differences are, but I used flared brake lines and fuel hose and some good clamps to fab my own transmission lines because they are not available any more. The setup works great. This is on my 1990 beater. Maybe it can be done for fuel lines too.

        hmm...what type of flares?

and does anyone know if the fuel lines on the 3.8 are the same as the v8 and the 3.4? if so I might be able to grab some off of a donor car...
