  • I think my accelerator cable is loose.

I recently relised im getting really crappy acceleration. and my freinds 3.4 accelerates better than my 3.8. and ive been looking at the acceleraor cable and when i first got the car i use to rev the engine while not in the car by grabbing the accerator cord with my finger and now it looks like its loose or stretched. Is their anyway to fix that?? Also today i relised theirs two cables so which one does what? Thanks

This would be the first time Ive heard of a stretched throttle cable. I think you're making a problem that doesn't exist. However it's very simple to test. Pull the air intake off the throttle body, sit in the drivers seat, and have someone watch to see if the throttle opens completely. I'll bet you it does.

i have to agree with tom, its damn near impossible.

why is the last time the car had a tranny fluid change? tune up? ect? keep in mind the older and more miles on it there is going to be some power loss. and another thing... its a vert, its heavier and as such the acceleration will be a bit worse.

current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

like everyone has said, you need a tune up. if your throttle cable is stretched, ill buy you a new one, because its not.

k well i willl check. But i think yes it will open all the way but i think its streched so (i put the throttle like a 4th way down and its not opening it as much cause its longer than it mostly is....) idk but yeah theirs 2 cables why is their 2 ? just so i can learn something new :)

If it's opening all the way, it's not stretched. The other cable is for your cruise control.

              yep.

also +1 for never seeing a stretched throttle cable.
