  • any way to have a z-28 speedometer on v6?

Can it be done, if i got the whole assembly would i just be able to plug it in and have it work and have the speedo work accurately?

I don't believe so. The speedo's electrical curcuit is different between the v6's and v8's. Basically, the rpm's are different between the two (or something like that).

I think you would have to have some programming done...

I don't know about taking the whole assembly, I would think it would just be easier to get a 160 speedo and just calibrate the computer for it. isn't it only the speedo that is diffrent anyway?

everything on the Z28 guage cluster works fine, except the tach. Dokota Digital sells a tach adaptor for that. it just plugs in. your 99 will need a 97-02 cluster. i have a cluster from a 01 Z28 in my 97 V6

Also, oil pressure will report improperly. The V6's run higher oil pressure than the V8's, so the needle will point almost straight up, which on the V6 is around 60. On the V8 cluster, it still points straight up but it reads 40. Might not be that big of a deal to some but it was to me. Also, tach is off by 400 rpm, and the odometer will read the milage of the current cluster, not the actual milage of the car. And GM dealers cant reprogram it either. Which totally bites since I have a nice Z28 cluster with reverse-glow gauges and cool font, and a carbon-fiber overlay. Oh well....

its not that big of a deal. fix the tach. put in a oil pressure gauge. and take the time to find a gauge with the miles as close as possible to yours.

The miles can be adjusted to the Z28 cluster to match the ones on your V6 or what ever milage you choose.

Where would I get a European gauge? Being from Canada and having Imported a Firebird from the States, I would prefer KM to the MILES that it's in now.

                              Help is appreciated :D
