  • Heater Core to block hoses.

Have a 2002 Firebird, and am getting ready to replace the two pipes/hoses that go from the block to the heater core. Do I really need special pipes that are clamped to the hoses, or can I just use regular hose? If regular hoses can be used, would I need the springs to bend them in a certain angle to prevent them from hitting the block? Just that I am in the process of replacing the hoses for the radiator, and may end up replacing the heater core ones to prevent future trouble. Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Heater Core to block hoses.

You have to watch the hoses on the tensionor since one line has a restrictor in it. I think its the top line, which is the return line, a Co. makes replace metal incerts that will snap right in the spots and them you can use hoses with a clamp to tighten them down, instead of using the plastic crap GM ones. These are metal GM ones off FWD cars, GM cheaped out and didn't use the metal ones like they did on the FWD ones. But once you get a set of metal ones , they should last forever. I'll see if I can find the CO. that sells them , ina complete kit which is nice for like $70 shipped.
