  • Change to hotter plug when going to cooler thermostat?

A while ago the car had the 195 thermostat changed out for a 180 thermostat, and the PCM updated to lower the fan on/off temps accordingly. Everything is working fine, but sometimes when the motor hits about 4000 rpm, it feels like its misfiring until I do it two or three times. Then its fine for a while. Wondering if the plugs are loading up and should be changed to a hotter plug?

I haven't heard of anyone swapping plugs due to a thermo change. Your engine is still going to get up to the same temps, it just takes longer as the thermo is opening sooner and fans run earlier.

Well, the temp gauge shows that the engine is running at a lower temperature most of the time. Temps get up to about 190/195 in stop/go traffic until the fans come on. But 90% of the time, the motor is running colder than before (at least according to the temp gauge).

Agree. No need to change plugs.

Stock fans will come on at 220 degrees first stage an 230 degrees second stage, unless the A/C is on, reprogramed, or manual fan swwitch. If you want a colder plug thats used for FI and nitrous NGK TR6 would be it.

You won't hear the fans come on on low speed, they are very quiet. On high speed you will hear them, unless you have the stereo on. Typical of being stuck in stop/go traffic on a highway in mid summer in 90+ degree days. If the car is not moving, the fans will come on.
