I don't think you can remove the bumpers, if you can call them that. Just get a body kit, they tend to be lighter than stock pieces. fi you are looking for weight reduction, remove the spare/jack, rear seat, and buy a chromoly front k-member that will shave 60 lbs off your nose, and lastly, an afetrmarket ram air hood will shave off 20-30 lbs. easy.
Theres stuff behind them, like for safety pruposes i believe. Ive been to junkyards and seen the honeycomb-looking stuff thats behind the bumpers of f-bodies.
Im asking because on someones weight reduction list on their web-site mentioned removing something inside the front and rear bumpers. Might have been Magnus or 12secondV6.
1999 White Ford SVT Lightning.

Hoping to dyno @ 450hp/550tq by the end of \'04.
OK what you are talking about is front and rear bumper supports.
I am told that the weight reduction is somewhere around 30-60 lbs.
I haven't been able to get any definate answers on this though.
To access them I am told it is quite easy. Just jack the car up and search underneath for the various screws.
There is a problem with this though, safety. They are there for a reason, they are bumper supports. Technically on a street car you should have them. If you got into an accident and the front end was crunched the insurance comapny/ body shop would realize they are missing and that might create problems.
Don't do the chrome moly k member, mild steel all the way. I am told that there is NO give in the chrome moly and on the street you do need that. You can actually crack the chrome moly due to no flexibility.
I just did a manual steering rack, light weight mild steel drag k member, and mild steel lower a arms and I have figured out that I lost exactly 50 pounds off the nose.
Fiberglass hoods are supposed to reduce the front end weight anywhere from 20-35 lbs so I am told but I have again not gotten any definate answers

I think its more then 20-35lbs off. My aftermarket ram air hood weighted 45lbs. All we need to know is the weight of a stock hood
I really dont know how to weight a stock hood. I had my stock hood just propped up in the garage and i would weight it, but what do i just get a scale and put it on there? thats not really too accurate.
But ram air hood (fiberglass) weights 45lbs..thats what it says on my invoice from suncoastcreations. Then 6lbs for the shocks for the hood...total shipping weight was 51 lbs.
