  • Car turnovers, won't crank

So I was driving to school Monday afternoon and I stopped at a light and my car just died. I tried to start it but it would barely start, and the RPMs were struggling to make it past 1000 and after it would just die. I got a boost and the car barely started, and I tried to give it some gas but it wouldn't rev any higher than 1000.

I've changed the battery (got it tested and it showed it was time to replace it) I've also changed one of the coils that was getting really hot when I would try to start the car. I've also changed the fuel filter. The car did not start when I put the starter fluid. As the title says, the car turnovers but won't crank. Any suggestions?

Check to make sure its not VATS related. Have you noticed a security light coming on? http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread...light=resistor

If thats not it I would start with checking fuel pressure then maybe the crank and cam sensor.

dmw319: took the alternator out and got it tested as well. It was working fine.

techsan23: I did the VATS bypass on my car two years ago so I wouldn't have to get a new key for my car. Do you think that could have caused my car to just died when I got to a light? I forgot to mention that I borrowed the machine from Advance Auto Parts to read the codes and it showed no codes. However, I'm thinking because the battery was in need to change (I hadn't gotten the new battery) it couldn't give me a good reading... Could all this be because my resistor went bad and I need a new one??

I would check that resistor for sure.

if thats not it, check fuel pressure like said above.

If its turning over, more then likely its not the battery. But I would still have them test it

yeah, def sounds like a fuel pressure issue or computer problem, doubt it is ignition related because it wouldn't really turn over at all if it was.
