My A/C line feeding into my radiator spring a leak today. Is it possible to get that line only to replace and if so can it be done at home and use the cans to refill it or do I need to have someone else do it and get them to purge the system?

Re: A/C leak
The line goes to the condensor , thats in front of the radiator. The line can be replaced or you just may need a new O-ring for one of the ends. But if its hot enough outside you can use the refill kits, they come with the adaptter hose and gauge with 3 cans of freon for like $55.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: A/C leak
well The line has a hole in it right next to the battery and I found a new one on GMpartsdirect. I was told by a few places that I have to have teh system vacumed out before I can refill it is that true? It gets prety warm here in Fla about now low to mid 90's so I dont know if thats warm enough. If I do it myself Is there anything special to do or just plug up the cans and go for it

Re: A/C leak
If you have a leak you will need to vaccum the air out of the system. I bought this pump and guages from harbor freight to do it myself. It was cheaper than having a shop do it and you will have them for future use. They are simple to use and have worked good for me.

Re: A/C leak
Since you will be opening the system you must pull a vacuum on the system. Otherwise you have a system full of air displacing your refrigerant. Once you pull that vacuum and see that it holds, then you're good to go. The system will probably take three large cans. I've also found that holding the cans upside down works great, because the freon dumps right into the accumulator nice and fast. Toward the third can, if it's right side up, it will take forever to empty. You're lucky you found the leak, it will be a very easy fix.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock
