Re: AC Compressor - Signs of Death?

On to the Orifice Tube removal. I finally found it, it's the lower tube coming out of the evaporator. Thanks to FbodyRS96  The old one was kinda sooty but what do you expect after 14 yrs of reliability? Shown for comparisons. New orifice tube slides into the AC tube with the switch built into it. It slid inside nice and slow with the four finned end jutted out a little bit. Cleaned seals and tightened

While the old compressor was draining and the orifice tube installed properly, I measured exactly 1/4 to 1/3 cups of oil from the old compressor so I added in the same amount closer to the 1/3 line of new PAG46 oil into the new compressor. Thanks to Cam98aro

Reinstalled lines and new gaskets to the rear of the new compressor. Bracket is held down by a 13mm bolt. Tightened and cleaned with Simple Green.

It was gettin dark out so the final reassembly wasted no time. Plugged in the compressor, bolted the front and rears together. With a stroke of luck everything turned out smooth and the serpentine belt reinstalled. The 3.8L motor lives again with no noises. A final check was done to ensure no leakages occurred. Finally done!
