Re: I'm about to give up.please help!!!!

What year model is your car? Ive got a 1996 pcm for a manual trans; or do you have hp tuners to load a stock tune? Other than that if you can get the front end in the air you could pull the inspection plate off the front of the trans and take a look at the back of the flywheel before you pull the trans. I have a feeling your going to be pulling the transmission though.

If none of these suggestions is panning out and you still cannot figure it out, I'd suggest taking it to the stealership for a diagnosis at least. It's not that expensive, and it beats wasting all this time and perhaps throwing money at things that are totally unrelated to the problem.

You dont have to have the inspection plate. I threw mine in the trash. You could shine a flashlight in there and see if you see any shiny spots where a weight may have fallen off; then bump the starter and check it again.

i looked at the flywheel(back) facing the engine and i dont see any weights, all i saw was a couple holes for bolts.

I took a look at my stock flywheel and the bolt holes are for the pressure plate. I also noticed that the weight is built into the backside of the flywheel, and there are a few dimples on the front side where the factory took some material off. There is no way you could loose a weight on the stock flywheel. Im kind of stumped. Our engines are supposed to be externally balanced yet there is no orientation as to what position to bolt on the flywheel.

Are there any fluctuations in oil pressure when the vibration begins? If you were spinning a bearing you probably would have lost the engine by now, but you cant exactly rule it out. The balancer slipping the keyway is unlikely but possible. If you were over fueling enough to cause a stutter you should be throwing a couple of codes.

Im beginning to think you should pay for diagnostics before you loose a bearing.

the oil pressure does move a bit when the car is idling, but i dont think it does when it vibrates

Re: I'm about to give up.please help!!!!

WOW ok listen to this,on my way from class i was driving normally, then my sterio cut out,the ac stopped working, the fans were blowing weak, the windows cralled down, and my gauges were every where, the voltage was almost at the bottom,i think the oil pressure was fluxuating, the revs were jumping along with the speedo, the speedo went to 60mph then 0 mph,the trun signal had an effect on it also, and the engien sputtered or bogged when you gave it a bit of gas,the engine ran smooth as long as you barely pressed, also it still vibrated when i got to 3000rpms gradually so that didn't change,so i made it in my neighbor hood and it went back to normal,i pulled in the driveway and scanned it with not results and tried to strat it but it was dead,so im chargin it now,so whats up with that????????

OK i think im going to take down the tranny on thursday and start the car and see if it vibrates with the tranny off,if it does ill then take the clutch assembly off and test again,if it still does it, ill get a new flywheel and bolt it up and start it again and see if it is gone, and then put back the clutch and etc, does this sound like a good idea?any dangers in what im doing?

All that electrical stuff sounds like your alternator died and allowed your battery to die. I would suggest investigating that first. It probably does not have anything to do with the vibration, but you never know. Once that problem is fixed, if the vibration is there, I would still recommend getting a professional diagnosis before going through the trouble of removing the transmission and clutch assembly. That's an awful lot of work.
