Im not talking about a PCM scan, I'M talking about a full diagnostic. A full diagnostic is MUCH more than just scanning for codes. You can literally snap you crankshaft in half, and not pop a code. Engine will not run afterwards, but you can scan the PCM and you could possibly not popped one code. You can shoot a piston thru an oil pan.......and not pop a code. You know the piston dropped thru, you can see the thing hanging out of the oil pan, but you could possibly not pop one code.

The PCM is only going to know whats wrong with ignition, timing, fuel delivery, and whatever electrical that is being monitored. It can't tell you about full mechanical failure of certain parts. Its like trying to scan the PCM for a rear main leak. PCM isn't going to tell you ****, but you see the oil on the ground, you know something isn't right. I mean hell, I have a trans that slips when WOT, and I have NO codes pop from that. I KNOW its a mechanical failure, the only way to determine the exact failure is to have a full diagnostic ran. Scanning codes is not going to tell me what is wrong with my slipping trans, nor is it going to tell you exactly what the vibration is coming from, unless you have a failed PCM, or a burned out SES light.

ok then ill do that, but first ill see how much thats gonna cost since most shops charge $95 an hour, and i also got some advice from erik, from lashway motorsports, they are pros at this ****,he also pointed out to me that the vibration gets worst when the car is decelerating, which means that when it decelerates the engine get torqued counter clockwise(i think) which makes it worse,so that can lead a bit to motor mounts or something rubbing, but either way ill see what i can do or not do,but im off to bed.

well i haven't done the mounts or anything, but for some reason i feel there is a connection with tuning, because some days it will run a bit rougher.

This is where a wideband and hp tuners are nice, so you can see what all is going on. If you decide you want to try a stock pcm, Ive got one for a 96' manual that I wont be needing. Might want to go ahead with the diag before you pay for unnecessary shipping if its not going to fix it though.

yeah true, btw i dont think i can use your PCM because my pcm is for an auto,it was just reflashed so idk if the harness is different for a manual

Re: I'm about to give up.please help!!!!

UPDATE, erik @ lashway motorsports told to to change out the motor mount since it was inexpensive,so i did,it did not get rid of the vibration @3000rpms but it got rid of a higher rpm shake, that is now gone since i put the new mount(only the driver side)so im actually glad i did it,however when i stop at a light abruptly the car gives a bit of a rough idle that i did not feel with the old mounts,so do these new ones have to be broken in? and my acceleration feels much better especially at around 5200,the vibration is barely there during acceleration but pretty bad when decelerating, dont know why? and i think i may have threw of my driveshaft or something because i was doing 120mph on the highway and let off,and then i felt another vibration but it felt like it was from the rear of the car, like when my D/S was not centered properly,so ill check that tomorrow, but this only happens at speed, nothing to do with rpms.

Re: I'm about to give up.please help!!!!

it has to be engine related becasue when at a stanstill it still vibrates if you rev it,please help asap.

If you're still having some noticeable vibration, are you going to finally bow out and take it for a diagnostic? Its apparent that this Lashway Motorsports doesn't know whats wrong with your car, a GM certified dealership might now better as to what the problem is. Too early to say I told you so?

i think i may have threw of my driveshaft or something because i was doing 120mph on the highway
Why would you want or need to go 120 mph on the highway? Could be any number of things at that speed that would make the car vibrate.....but again, I don't usually go that fast on a public highway to tell.

btw it was an old highway that is almost never used, and i am taking it to lashway motorsports,he never checked the car yet but he said you can change the mount just incase, for $9,please. Im dropping the car of either on thursday, and he will check it out and either put it on the dyno and test it at speed, fyi lashway motorsports is the **** buddy, they are great on working of f bodies, and specialist on LSX motors, they would no alot more than the dealers just be experience. So hopefully it goes well, and changing the mount actually stopped the vibrating at 5200ish rpms so ill say $9 well spent.

I knew that one was coming.....

You have admitted to the vibration still existing, at different speeds and during deceleration. You didn't fix anything as far as I can tell, and from what you have admitted. Im sure Lashway is great, especially if they specialize in LSx engines, but you have a V6, not an LSx engine. There are shops around here that specialize in LSx engines, and can't figure out a 3800 for the life of them. I would have taken it to a reputable auto repair shop, not a performance shop specializing in engines you dont have.

I guess the question I have is if you're going to take it to the shop, and you're going to do whatever you want anyway, why does this post even exist? You're obviously not listening to anyone so far, whats the point of this post?

I just read this whole thread. I hate to say it, but with the money you spent, you could have had the car diagnosed at Reliable Chevrolet for $70. Now THAT would have been money well spent ;)

just called the dealer and they said $95 to spend an hour on it,if they dont find anything oh well. Lashway would charge $75 an hour but i dont mine paying extra to get it fixed at the dealer. I just think that some unusual problems need to be figure out sometimes with experience and fancy equipment may not be the answer all the time, and i know for a fact i can trust erik and not some sleezy stealership who would probably try to **** me over but whatever. So i guess everyone agrees to go to the dealership,i better get some lube!:spank:

me personally I would say go to a mech you trust. I watched the dealerships here in marianna rob ford, gm and Chrysler owners blind telling them they needed parts like a new F'in motor and it was a bad plug wire. jmo but do as you think is best its still your car and your $$
