well now i know that the scanner doesn't solve the problem,so now it the process of elimination, change the right motor mount, put back the stock TQ arm bushing and ix the exhaust rubbing, but again even when the car is in neutral it vibrates a bit at 3K rpms,so it can be a balancer that is slightly off,idk but ill start with the little stuff first. If anyone has any ideas that deal with the motor alone, please feel free to share.

Maybe its time to talk to an engine builder because it sounds like it may be internal.

ha,not going that far,the motor is still very strong,i think it would be silly to rebuild a motor because of a slight vibration,if anything ill run it till it blows and swap an ls1.

I didn't mean have it rebuilt but that an engine builder might have some suggestions for you on what it might be if it is internal.

Mechanics know how to put engines together but someone who tears engines down and builds them on a daily basis is more knowlegable on internal components and how and why they can fail. Just a suggestion.;)

OK you guys are going to think im retarded, but i redidi my CAI and add on a bit that goes deep down in the compartment, and that same day the car runs smoother, and still is,it still has the vibration but i can only feel it on deceleration,it's like gone during acceleration,it seems with the new way i set up the CAI and the coldish weather made it better. weird but it may be a balancer slightly off,and due to the engine running a bit smoother it vibrates less, thats just my theory lol,any others?

Actually, being a mechanic you should know what causes things to fail so you can fix the actual problem and not just an obvious broken part. No offense but you're obviously not a mechanic. :slap:

I'll take a random stab at this.. I haven't read the whole thread since it's too long but, if you say it seems better since you've moved your CAI it makes me wonder if you're MAF screen is in or not.

No I am not a mechanic. Just a guy who has had muscle cars all my life and work on my own cars going on a message board trying to offer some helpful advice.

I know that mechanics know the ins and outs of engines and can rebuild and diagnose engines.

My point was that a person who specializes in certain areas may have more insight into problems than a general mechanic.

I would think you obviously being a mechanic would agree with that.

I don't think my advice to speak to an engine builder was detremental to his situation. It was just a suggestion to talk to somebody. What harm is that?

I'm pretty sure, as it pertains to his problem, that it would all be speculation until the problem is found elsewhere or the engine is torn down. No engine builder or mechanic will know for sure till they get their hands dirty.

I'm not sure when I said speaking to an engine builder was detrimental. I also said no offense, so hopefully you wouldn't get butt hurt but that has also failed.

He said his balancer could be off yet he hasn't changed it yet. Something about a tensioner too I think was previously mentioned. There appears to be a number of problems and he's looking for 1 magic fix. I agree with mogobs question now as to the reasons behind this post.

well my MAF screen is in place and im not looking for "one magic fix" as you said,im trying to narrow it down which is not a bad idea, and as for the balancer it may be slightly off,but if you can get me a new balancer soon and for like under a small fortune please let me know cause the newer style balancer is hard to locate,so take it easy there killer.

Go to autozone. They had a replacement harmonic balancer for me the next day.
