true but im pretty sure a scan at the dealership will cost more than $20 motor mounts
Im also better a $70 scan will be FAR more conclusive than throwing parts at a car when you STILL have no clue whats wrong with it. I bet my scan will end up being cheaper than you $20 motor mounts once you start throwing more parts at it because the motor mounts weren't the problem.

but since i have to change the OLD motor mounts that have been on the car ever since i bought it,i can do that before i get a scan,so IF it solves the problem i wont waste $70, if not then i dont have to change the motor mounts any time soon. How does that sound?????

Like a waste of money. I have a 15 year old car, with 166k on the odometer. The LAST problem it has is issues with the motor mounts. Motor mounts are simple pieces of steel. If they aren't cracked or loose, then they're fine. They don't age. Mechanical parts that move age and wear, these things hold up a motor to the Kmember/chassis. They aren't complicated parts, hence, there is no need to replace them as part of normal maintenance.
Motor mounts aren't air filters
They aren't engine oil.
They're not light bulbs.
They're not fuel filters.
They're not injectors.
They're not pistons.
They're not flywheels or flexplates.
They're not clutches or TQ converters
They're not ring gears.
They're not pinion gears.
They're not brake pads.
They're not brake rotors.
They're not window motors.
They're not switches.
They're not throttle bodies.
They're not sensors.
They're not spark plugs.
They're not plug wires.
They're not shocks.
They're not ball joints/A-arms.
EVERYTHING I listed can and will age on a car. Everything I listed has either some electrical/mechanical function to it and/or supports a electrical/mechanical function. Motor mounts do not. They're blocks of steel with holes for bolts. If they're not cracked or warped, then they're fine. ARE they cracked or warped?

what a rant "Mogobs30th"! you didn't have to waste your time telling me about parts that will eventually wear down,i know those parts have a lifespan,it's common sense! Those "blocks of steel" contain a black piece of Rubber/poly which over a long period of time can decay or DRY rott, and if it does i guess i should wait to see what happens then right? When i was removing the stuck pilot bushing i had to use some force and the motor moved quite a bit, also the rubber showed signs of dry rotting due to the cracks that were visible. But hey if a $9 motor mount is wasting money to a $70 scan which is more like twice that amount at the dealer in west palm FL, i really am confused about the waste of money.
If you're sure the mounts are aged, then yes, I can understand replacing them. But I think it depends on the vibration. If the engine runs fine but you can "feel it" in the car, then it's probably the mounts. But if it otherwise seems to run smooth, you will be wasting more time and money. Keep in mind that it's not only the money you spend on parts, but it's also your time that you are wasting by doing all these needless repairs. Look at the clutch job. Yeah, it could have used a clutch, but you did all that work to solve this vibration problem and it didn't work. Now you're looking at replacing the mounts. If that's not it then you'll be looking at replacing something else, and then something else. There's the harmonic balancer. Then there's the PCM. It could be the exhaust. It could be the driveshaft. It could be anything. There's a lot of parts under there. You could potentially replace a thousand dollars in parts, when all it was, was a loose bolt somewhere. Who knows?
I just think that folks on here are getting a little frustrated because we see you doing these repairs and spending money on stuff, but you have no idea what the source of the problem is. I'm certainly a do-it-myself kind of person, but if I cannot determine on my own what the issue is, I have to draw the line and have an expert look at it. Just be willing to draw that line of how far you are willing to go to fix this problem on your own.

If you're going to do whatever you want anyway, regardless of our advice, why the **** do you bother posting in the first place? You asked for advice and help, we're giving it to you, and trying to do it as efficiently as possible, while saving the most money. You wanna throw money at a problem, go right the **** on. Its not my ****ing car. I learned 13 years ago not to throw money at a car when you don't know whats wrong with it.
If there is anything that pisses me off more and more with the newer people, its that they come here, ask for advice, then do whatever the **** they were going to do in the first place, regardless of whatever advice was given. If you don't want the help, DON'T ****ING ASK FOR IT.
Mr. Bell has NAILED it on the head. Its one thing to fix and repair the car yourself, its a whole other deal trying to diagnose a problem. Eventually, the smart thing to do is take it to a shop, and have them diagnose it (which is more than just pulling codes). Richard, you have done NOTHING to fix the problem other than buy a new clutch and flywheel, and you still have the problem. So if you buy the $20 motor mounts, then the problem is STILL there, you going to throw more money at something that you have no clue whats wrong? Its asinine, but you do what you want anyway. Again, its your car, not mine.
That is true Rob but i have taken it to a friend of mine a while back, and he scanned it with the GM scanner and nothing came up,and as for other parts, driveshaft, rearend etc is out,it's down to mounts, pcm and balancer,so after i change the mounts, then i can get a pcm from the junk yard and test it,if not i can return it and it does not cost me any money, but thats just one way,i can probably get it scanned, but if nothing comes up what are my other options? so i get what your saying but i need another solution, not useless posts by people saying what wears down, and that metal mounts dont go bad,,,,there's always one person like that in the bunch, but whatever.
Yeah, Im that ONE person in the bunch, the one with sense, that a problem? I told you what you had to do, and you want to go the cheap route with trial and error. If the mounts don't work, hell, could be a great many things. But you just keep throwing money at it.....
BTW, no reputable junk yard is going to take back an electrical or electronic part once its sold.

haha here we go again with "Mogobs30th" swearing at the wind lol.replacing the clutch was going to be done either way,as for the flywheel it cost $50 to $60 to resurface,so i got a new one for $79,and i changed the slave cyl. for FREE so chill the **** out. I do take the advice of people on here, but i can't always do everything they suggest. You are the only one acting like an ******* on here, grow up,oh wait i was still eating paste then.

BTW i have done it before when i did the t5 swap,so ,,yeah
So for the $79 you spent on a new flywheel, you could have had the car diagnosed. You ABSOLUTELY NEEDED a new flywheel? Take that $79, + $20 you are going to spend on mounts, and you have almost $100 to get the car diagnosed, and know FOR SURE what it was thats broken....but you can't do this why??? You had the money for the flywheel....you have the money for the mounts, but you didn't have the money for a diagnostic in the first place......where does your logic begin to make sense?

Could I have their phone number? Seriously, I have a ton of worthless electrical parts I could sell, or switch on them with good parts. Anyone that takes back and electronic part like a PCM on a whim without testing it in a working car is a moron of a company, and needs to be exploited. So if I could have their number.....

haha thats all i got,but look them up, ABC u pull it and U pull & pay,fyi i had my friend scan the car a couple months back even when the vibration existed and nothing came up,but how about this, ill try to get him to scan it again and if it doesn't bring up anything ill ask you for advice on the next step.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
