  • steam cleaning your intake.

So...i observed this :stp:on youtube and i figured...what the hell, I'll take a wack at it. So on this fine warm day. I did it and i cant say that it didn't do anything because now my idle is no longer erratic. My engine runs alone smoother actually.:burn:

apparently your suppose to bring the car to normal running temp. and put the water at a constant rate in the engine through either the pcv valve or the brake booster line. (in this case i used the brake booster line)

took about 10 minutes and a 32 ounce bottle of water.

i tend to run a tight setup as far as maint goes. but this reallly takes the cake.. i never knew that water could do that and no harm the engine in anyway shape for form. :slap:(when done correctly)

theres no real problem with doing that.. i have seen many people pour water down their carb to get the same effect. when the water hits the carbon buildup and the hot engine it turns to steam and breaks the carbon up.

its basically the same as seafoam, but you have more of a chance to hydrolock your engine, because im pretty sure seafoam is combustible.

i would replace your plugs after doing that though, theres a good chance they will get fouled up

actually. water is safer than sea-foam or any petroleum.

hydro locking your engine is only caused when a MASSIVE amount of water is sucked in..not bit by bit from a bottle lol

false, just takes a few drops.

people use seafoam if you are going to clean your intakes, don't risk wrecking your engine please. Thanks.

That is so wrong is rediculous. This whole thread is rediculous. Ive NEVER heard of anyone pouring any amount of water into the engine of a car, especially one with an iron block and heads.

Its takes VERY LITTLE water to hydrolock an engine. Even condensation from an engine that has sat for sometime can hydrolock. Where do you get this info from?
