    And should I replace it while I'm halfway done with this waterpump R&R? 3.8L motor

    Is it just a sensor I can swap without affecting whatever is inside and it slips right in? I'm just being careful! Thanks.

        Yea I'm fairly certain that's what it is. I am not positive if you need a CASE relearn or not after replacing this sensor. You need it for the crankshaft position sensor for sure. So if it is required you need a scan tool that can do that procedure, a dealership can do this too. There is a sticky about this procedure here:

          yes it is the camshaft position sensor.

            Thanks guys, I was unsure about the 14 yr old part which was totally caked with oil and dirt. If it aint broke, I won't fix it. Waterpump R&R successful.
