Just get a higher amperage alternator and wire the batteries in parallel.

The only reason Im going to allow someone to say "wire the batteries in parallel" is because the car batteries used are in a form of series'd cells in the first place.

If each battery is looked at as one unit, and say a short goes through all 6 cells when wired in parallel, the other LEAD-ACID (read: not good) will EXPLODE.

I hope this is enough emphasis... Please don't run multiple batteries unless you KNOW what you're doing and are willing to take this risk.

This is why most people run caps for fast power availability during times of loud peaks... an alternator won't react faster, it'll just charge better.

try powermaster, and please use a battery isolater if you are gonna use two batteries, that way your main battery is not used to run your system

How do you know your alternator is on it's last leg?
