I'd have to hookup a scanner and see next time I'm starting it if the throttle shows a higher %.
He's not saying add fuel, he's saying open the throttle plate so more air can get in.

I might be a bit overzealous on the topic, but in my opinion camaros and firebirds come from a long line of pedigreed and historied pony cars. They represent a lot of American concepts of industry, freedom, and pure (admittedly unrefined) power. While our late generation cars don't so much look like the muscles of the 60s and 70s, I believe we have an inherited responsibility to maintain that style. Put your money under the hood, and leave the wings and plastic colors to the imports.

With all due respect, your car is extremely painful to listen to...on a positive note, you're a young gearhead and will learn from the errors of your ways. Good luck...;)

I said gas when I meant throttle, I know he's not adding fuel :). However to restate what I said before, I'm really not sure if it's a valid idea. By opening the throttle plate you're trying to lean out the mixture by adding air (to fix being flooded). With a carb it's not a big deal since you add fuel along with the air so worst you would do is flood it, but with a fuel injected engine I think it's best to just crank over until it leans out on it's own. I'm not sure sure about trying to lean out the mixture yourself by holding the throttle when starting, especially with seafoam. I foresee the possibility of the seafoam going boom and the baffles flying off your intake. On my 99 I'm not sure if pushing the throttle before the car is running will do anything since its fly-by-wire and not a throttle cable. Like I said I'm curious to scan it and see what it says. Or just look :).

Correct, like I said before its better to drive it and hitting 5700 RPMS instead reving a cold engine at 4000 RPMS at idle, plus all the air coming in driving will blow out more of the carbon build up also the A/F will be lower and adding fuel on WOT runs. I drove mine before for 20 mins and it still was smoking alittle , 30 mins it was all gone and drove great. This AZ heat it takes 6 mins for the temp to hit 160 degrees on the ECT.
