On my 2002 Firebird... My passenger side headlight, This doesn't always happen, but when it does I have to help lift it along with the use of turning the headlights on.
When I leave the headlights off for more than a day, the passenger side headlight will not even try to rise. The gear wont make any sound, it will just stay down. I will be forced to grab the lid of the headlight and pull it upward and have someone turn the headlights on, and sometimes that will trigger it and help it move upward, other times we have to repeat with me pulling upward on the light until it finally pulls up, or I have to try to manually crank it... Also when I try to manually crank it, it feels VERY stiff at first but gets looser after you twist it...Kind of like over tightening a Coke Bottle... When it pulls up, it doesn't move any slower than the driver side light...it just wont respond when it hasn't been used in over a day, sometimes less...
The headlight motor has the brass gear inside of it and also the cap cover was accidentally broken when I replaced it and it would not stay on when I replaced it so I had to buy a brace off of ebay which used the three bolts that hold the motor on to insert a small metal brace to keep the cap on.
Whats causing this problem?
