I'm going to be flushing my cooling system this weekend... this will include pulling off the thermostat housing and taking the thermostat out.. so my question is.. does it have an auctual gasket or do I just use rtv?

You acutally need 2 parts when putting in a thermostat. You need the gasket (you can use sealant too but it makes it hard to get off next time) and a rubber ring. Just go to autozone or checkers and make sure they get you BOTH parts. If you put it back together without sealant and it doesn't leak, then you better off not using any. Only use it if you HAVE to. Hope that helps. Make sure you get ALL of the old gasket off too, mine was stuck on really well.1997 Chevrolet Camaro v6 - 13.8@104MPH

Thermostats only require (1) 44mm O-Gasket which fits around the lip of the stat - you dont need ANYTHING else and DO NOT USE RTV sealant!2002 5-spd NBM Camaro
