  • Question about MAF

    Will taking off the MAF screen cause it to throw p0171 system too lean (bank 1)
    p0174 system too lean (bank 2) code????

      I don't think it would, long as the screen is before the sensor and not after. Can't imagine why it would be after.

        yea the screen was before. And I drove it with no problem for a month or so. I didn't think it would make a difference but Now I have two codes telling me I'm running to lean.... I'm starting to wonder if it may be a bad PCV valve...

          Removing the MAF screen will cause the AFR to go wacky. So your answer is yes it can cause those codes.

            a bad PCV valve wont cause the engine to run lean.. it will cause oil consumption though
