  • Replacing starter, need torque specs for flywheel/t. converter cover

I'm in the process of replacing my starter. Took heat shield off and then discovered one of the starter bolts is just barely blocked by the flywheel/torque converter cover/shield. I can't get a socket on it and even if I could the bolt would only drop a couple mm before hitting the flywheel cover. The cover looks easy enough to take off but my Haynes manual doesn't seem to think this piece exists. Does anyone know the torque specs and tightening sequence for the cover?

its just a piece of metal, tighten it until it is tight and its done.

Yeah just a piece of metal but on some other cars I've worked on the torque is important because it links the tranny and engine

i assume you are talking about the inspection cover, its just a really thin piece, correct?

it is there only to protect the flywheel/flexplate area from rocks, it serves no purpose in strengthening the engine to trans.
