  • Service engine soon light on after winter storage

Whats up everyone, I have a 99 3.8 convertible with 34k on it. The car has been stored in an unheated garage since October. I took it out of storage last week and within 3 miles of driving the "service engine soon" light comes on. Great.

Looked in the owners manual and checked to see if the gas cap was on tight. It was. I even reset the ECU, this worked for exactly three miles and then it came on again! It has been on ever since.

When I put the car in storage it had about a quarter tank of gas in it. So I'm guessing perhaps the ECU is sensing condensation in the engine? Does anyone know whats going on? The car is in excellent condition and ran like perfection before storage. It runs the same now but I can't figure out why the light is on. Thanks for any help.

Hard to call without any symptoms, get an OBDII scanner and see what code is set.
