        Oil pump shaft seal?

If you want to get at the oil gear drive you will be pulling the timing cover, but there's no shaft on it unless your referring to the crankshaft. Maybe you meant the oil pickup tube?

have the solenoid replaced or get shift improver, or have someone firm up shifts with tuner

Thanks for the information. I printed out that thread along with a picture of the TCC valve to take along with me to my mechanic today.

I have no clue, all I know is that it's located at the top of the engine and had something to do with an oil tube or seal.

The best way to describe it.. on the estimate it is written as an "oil pump shaft seal". He claims he won't know if it is leaking until he begins replacing the rear main and has the engine lowered. The job estimate is $395 for just that leak alone.

Somehow I feel like I'm getting hosed.

Something doesnt sound right to me. By "rear main" you have to assume he is referring to the rear main cover in which the transmission has to be removed to get to. Once the cover is unbolted there is a gasket for the cover and a o-ring that sits in the cover that surrounds the crankshaft once reinstalled. Again theres no shaft on the oil pump unless hes referring to the pickup. And the oil gear drive is behind the timing cover.

That is correct, the trans is being dropped to replace the seal. I didn't think their was a shaft on the oil pump.

See my first post in the thread. What's the grand total? I'm gonna guess around $4k.

Grand total is around $3,700, however I'm not putting that kind of money into the car when most of the items such as the exhaust, converter, O2 sensors and power window motor can be replaced by myself when summer comes and I have the resources and time to do it.

Just the rear main, oil pan gasket and whatever the shaft seal is has me at around $1,300.
