I'd call a dealer, get a part number, then run it through google and see who has it the cheapest

you can use 3/8" fuel line at basically any auto parts store. how long is it?

It's not a straight line, it's about 4 feet and would need to be bent to fit.

oh i was thinking it was a short enough distance where he could just patch in some rubber fuel line.

True, they do make repair kits that work well. I had to repair a fuel line on my Dad's 95 3.8 Riviera and it was pretty simple and straight forward.

The only reason i need to replace it is because the connector is damaged and its leaking fuel. I saw that autozone sells just the connector so could i just pick up a 3/8th one and pull the old one out and put a new one in? would these work?

Maybe you fixed it by now but I just went through all sorts of hell replacing my fuel filter in subzero frigid cold and I managed to fix it. Your fuel connector repair kit is waiting for you at NAPA.
Just ask the parts guy for the GM kit in the 3/8ths size for the fuel line connector size. I chucked the part number but let me tell ya, the fuel line size 5/16ths is way too small in diameter! NAPA's kit will give you almost 2 feet to play with the repair connection along with a metal barbed fitting to cojoin the two nylon lines.

Below is my pic-o-rama of the fuel filter leak I had. The fuel filter replaced with an AC Delco part.


A close up of the fuel filter nipple, damaged connector and some weird black sleeve that was on the rusty ringed end of the nipple. Hmmm...


The black sleeve separated from the female side of the connector!


Upon receiving your GM 3/8ths fuel connector repair kit from NAPA, you're gonna relieve the fuel pressure ( gas cap off ), jack up and safely support the rear end of your vehicle and slide yourself under the fuel tank for a much better access to the line that needs to be cut. Measure twice and cut once. You will notice the black fuel line that leaves the fuel tank to the filter is made of nylon. Cut a safe portion of that line and immerse that line into a cup of boiling water for 5-7 min. I kid you not, this is how I managed to stuff the nylon line snug with that barbed metal fitting. The hot water expands the nylon just enough to safely seal it like heat shrink tubing. Then install your fuel filter in its bracket, tighten the nut and attach your new GM fuel line connector to the filter. Take that end and immerse it in boiling water to snug it on the other end of the barbed fitting to make a complete and secure line for fuel flow.

Kit comes with nylon fuel line and this barbed metal fitting.



Measure twice, cut once to the desired length.


Just my way of securing the fuel line from any further leaks with rubber hose. It's shockproof lol but I did not secure the fuel line under the bracket for fear it might cut into it so I ziptied that line out of the way.


This is what I meant by boiling and immersing the nylon lines to get that certain expansion so you can quickly snug it before it cools down for that tight seal needed. Fuel is under high pressure for sure!


Test your work by ignition ON not START, listen for the fuel pump prime and look for leaks. Mines was a one shot deal, no mistakes & no leaks... DONE.
