ok last summer my ac worked perfectly and since its starting to get hot down here in florida again i turned it on full blast and nothing. not temp change at all from just vent. i took a look under the hood and my compressor is turning no air gaps at all. so im kinda stumped as it is since this is the first time having this problem. normally there is a leak some where but i know thats not the problem. and yes the temp knob was turned all the way to cool.

Re: trying to figure out whats wrong with my ac
Probably just needs a charge. Autozone/O'Reilly's/etc sell recharge kits for around $30. Start with that. The compressor will not engage if the freon level is too low. Fill it and go from there.www.fullthrottlev6.com
www.chitownracing.com

X2 thats the best approach, some of the kits will have dye in them too, I got my kit at Nappa for around $50 came with the attachment to fill and 2 cans of freon, worked great.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

The Nappa kit comes with the gauge, if its hot enough out just turn on the A/C to max and charge it up, its nice to have a temp gauge inn the car to see what its blowing at, mine I think we got down to 30-40 degrees blowing, so it worked out perfectly.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

The pressure guage in the charging kits is not the same as a hi/low pressure and vaccum a/c guages. If you have lost most or all of your freon the best thing to do is to completely vaccum the system to get any moisture and air out of it. Then wait a little bit to see if it holds the vaccum. If it does then go ahead and charge it up. If not get the freon with the dye like ssms5411 said to find the leak.
