  • Oil Pump gear clearance

    Hello,
I replacing the oil pump gears in my 3800 Series II engine. When I set the new gears in the front engine cover I only have .003 from outer gear to the housing. the book says I should have .008 to point .015. The outer gear turns freely with no issue. Will this be ok or should I look for another gear set?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Re: Oil Pump gear clearance

If it is made for the 3.8 then you shouldn't have a problem unless your running a double roller then ZZP makes a thinner plate for the gear cover. If its spinning freely then you should be alright unless someone else knows more about it.
