  • Heater core question

So my car started spilling coolant into my passenger foot well last night. Same thing happened with my old third gen and it turned out to be the heater core. I suspect that is the culprit again this time. Is there any reason I should pay for the AC Delco replacement or would a much cheaper Delphi or Spectra part work just as well? Thanks! Also, anybody know a good way to get all that antifreeze out of my carpet?

    Re: Heater core

Usually your local AutoZone or other brand retailer would carry them for cheap.

Parts manufacturers would carry a limited or lifetime warranty and that depends on who you would pay for so make some phone calls to make an informed decision.

As far as the coolant spill on your carpet. Sprinkle baking soda over the carpet, and allow it to sit for 15 minutes or longer. Then, vacuum it up, and the smell will be gone!

    Why This Works:

Baking soda neutralizes the odors in your carpet, so that your car smells like your car and nothing else.

Benefits of Deodorizing with Baking Soda:

    inexpensive
    no harsh chemicals
    no fragrances to irritate allergies
removes odors, rather than covering them up
    environmentally-friendly

Seems you want to save some money so here ya go. ;)

Try to find someone to put it in for ya on the cheap. I used to have a radiator shop by my house that did them really reasonably. It's a PITA to get the heater box out.
