Hello everyone, my Camaro, 96 3.8l, is revving high each time that I start it up. It was revving at 2000 rpms and climbing but this past weekend I found a vacuum hose disconnected, the one from the map sensor at the back. I connected it and when I started it up again it was running okay. Yesterday I go to start it up at it is still revving up a little to high, now its at 1500 and it only climbs up to 1800. The engine also shut off on me while driving, I was cruising at around 30 mph in a residential zone. The good thing was that I was only a few blocks away from home and it did start up again. So could I have a bad fuel pump or a bad sensor or just another vacuum leak somewhere else? Any advise on where I should start and what to look for is greatly appreciated. I am at a loss at what to look or listen for. So any suggestions will be taken. Thanks , later

Re: high engine revs at idle
Vac. leak, or bad IAC, TPS sensor. Maybe TB cable might want to check and make sure its going up and down smoothly. Might want to clean the maf. sensor too. I would see about getting your DTC codes also , since it probably has some stored in the PCM.Last edited by ssms5411; 05-16-2011, 06:57 PM.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: high engine revs at idle
Well I checked all the vacuum connections and they looked okay. I also checked the TPS sensor by turning on the engine and then disconnecting it. When I disconnected the TPS sensor the rpms went down to normal and go up when I connect it back. So I am pretty sure it has gone bad. I will change the sensor tomorrow, so hopefully it was just that.
