I've got a pretty bad coolant leak on my 93 Firebird, 3.4L. The coolant is leaking behind the engine accessory bracket on the passenger side of the vehicle. It is not coming from a hose. Looks like it is either coming from the timing cover to engine block seal, or the cylinder head to block (head gasket) seal. The front of the block is wet with coolant right around where the freeze plug is located.
I was hoping it was just the water pump, but it appears to be much further back then the water pump sealing surface.
Any suggestions? Has anybody ever seen the timing cover to engine block seal fail? Also, i've never seen a head gasket fail and only leak coolant outside the engine and not into the cylinders.
Any advice will be appreciated. Looks like i've got a very big job ahead of me...
