Can an LT1 be swapped into a 2000? More difficult than a S1? It's a complete car so I would have al the wiring and PCM... has 40k on the engine &tranqs.

Re: Looking into a swap..
Possible? Yes. Probable? Not really. I think it would be an even bigger headache than swapping in an LS1 or equivalent. If you're wanting to swap to save money, I don't think you're going to save much if anything once it's all said and done.'99 Camaro

Re: Looking into a swap..
LT1's have amazing low ends, but if it were me personally I'd do the LS1.. it's got way more potential, especially at the top end, and it's more compatible with the 2000 model FBody.\" Eat Rice With Pushrods \"<br /><br />My Car and What I Did <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2127313/1\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2127313/1</a>

The hotrod magazine, while true to the 594 HP foir $3.5k - won't apply to our F-Bodies. Know why? Most of the parts it uses are incompatible with our cars. The intake manifold sits too high for the cowl, the accessories won't work with our power steering units, alternator will hit the hood, oil pan won't fit, ect...
To make it work, you're going to have to replace everything with LS1 accessories and oil pan, that alone is going to cost an extra $1.5kish - bumping this up from $3,250 to $4,500... then you're going to have to get a transmission that can actually hold that kind of power - um another $2k? - $6,500 - plus the standard LSX swap equipment such as K-Member, suspension, fuel pump - $7,500...
There's alot more involved in swapping 5.3L's than the bare low cost engine... you have to have all the LS1 accessories and oil pan and PCM / Wiring Harness to make it all work because as they are, they won't even fit under the cowl.1997 Camaro RS W/T-Tops<br />All Stock / 200 HP
